In 2013, the Expanded Polystyrene Association called for the provision of test specimens from its members and measured the changes in thermal conductivity (λ) over time from the production of a total of 53 specimens corresponding to JIS A 9511 standards "Type 1, Type 2, Type 3, Type 4" at a public testing institution, from immediately after manufacturing to 90 days later. Three years later, in 2016, the thermal conductivity of the test specimens was measured again at a public institution to investigate the "three-year change over time." As a result, it was demonstrated that "the change in insulation performance of EPS is extremely small compared to other foam plastics." The "long-term stability of insulation performance" is an essential factor for ensuring and maintaining a comfortable living space, as well as for the longevity and continued value of housing.
